“Better Late Than Never: Watchmen “, an article by Nathan Rabin over at The Onion’s AV Club, gives a good overview of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel for non-comic readers. Hopefully this will get some people to read the graphic novel. With the surge in the novel’s sales, it may not be need the help. My hopes for the movie is low due to the poor track record of Hollywood has with treating Alan Moore’s work. Despite the current infatuation with superheroes, Hollywood still has a backhanded attitude toward comics. Focusing on the action sequences, the characterizations and narrative depth consistently get the short shrive. Christopher Nolan’s Batman reboot films are the exception not the rule. So read the article, read the book, and then you’ll understand my dread about Watchmen the movie.
